How to Fix Problem - Hard drive assigned letters vanished:?

Hard drive assigned Excel 2007 won't fax using MS Fax letters vanished:

I have just upgraded to Windows 7.
I don't know if this is related but this is my problem.    I used a program on D: drive on Monday morning, shut down till evening and found the drive letter D: has email association gone.
Checked in Disk Management and drive is there but
no letter assingned to it.  Anyone  have a fix please.

To change, add, or remove a drive letter
 Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.  If you're prompted for an administrator Solution to Error: Hebrew Symbols Missing From Symbol Options password or confirmation,

 To remove a drive letter, click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to remove it.
 Notes

If you change a drive letter, these programs might not work correctly.
 If you get an error, the drive you are trying to change might be in use.
Close any program or window that is using the drive and try again.
 You can't change a drive letter if the drive is either a system partition or a boot partition.
