Computer freezes after being idle for one hour

Original title: My computer freezes after being idle for about an hour. No mouse or keyboard response. Have to just turn the computer off. What causes this?
Running Windows 7. Other applications open, but nothing running in the background. Computer totally locks up after being idle for an hour, with no keyboard or mouse response. Only solution is to turn the system off, which I know is a no no. If I know
I'll be away from my computer, I will shut down properly.

1.       Did you make any changes to the computer before the issue occurred?
