Can't find saved Publisher '07 file after cntl-s???

Running Win7 Ultimate with Publisher '07.
 Opened a gmail email with my publisher document I started.
Publisher opens it right up and I start making changes.
Hit my cntl-s key multiple times (and I can see the floppy icon momentarily open up).
Hit the
close button and it doesn't ask if I want to save my changes since I had just done a control-s.
I go open it back up, and can't find the file anywhere on my computer.
Ran global search on the file name - nothing.
I open the same file attachment up in Publisher,
type a few new chars, and then hit control-s to save.
It does, but where again??? I then do a Save As and it pops up the default folder its saving to...but its not there.
Complete the Save As menu selection and it does save a copy.
  Anybody have any ideas
where to look or what's going on?   Thanks!
